Yellagonga Regional Park reaches from Lake Joondalup in the North to Lake Goollelal in the South, and includes between the main lakes, Beenyup and Wallaburnup Swamps. Surrounding lands are included and are reserved for conservation and for use as parks and as recreation. The total area covered by the park is 1400 hectares approximately.

The Friends group are local community conservation volunteers who want to protect and restore the park for conservation and recreation.

The main aims of the Friends of Yellagonga Regional Park (Inc.) are:

* To raise community awareness of the park, and the threats to it's ecology.

* To encourage community participation in the development and management of the park with regard to recreation and conservation.

* To help protect the remnant wetlands and bushlands from potentially damaging developments and other land uses (inside and outside the boundary).

* To become involved in rehabilitation and regional projects where necessary, in conjunction with the formal managers of the park, CALM.

* To attract funding to help meet the group's aims

* To meet new people and have fun.

The group was formed in 1993 and work with the Park manager, the Department of Conservation and Land management (CALM). The Friends seek to involve the local community as much as possible and encourage greater awareness of the significance of the Park and the threats to its conservation.

Management bodies cannot do all that is required to care for our wonderful natural areas. The cooperation of neighbours, other local people and visitors is essential. Help is also needed in bushland restoration activities. If you are interested please call someone listed below.

The Friends of Yellagonga have a community nursery at Landsdale Farm School and prospective members are invited to visit. Contact the Nursery manager, David Hancock on 93094569 or 0429095850, or the Farm School during normal working hours on 9343 1222.
